Under the soft yellow hues of light radiating from Old Metropolitan Hall’s chandeliers, entrepreneurial alumni, students, and friends gathered for a night of drinks and conversation at the Wahoowa Gala on Saturday, April 16th. The night proved a great way to wind down after the 30+ events held over the course of the week for the 2016 Tom Tom Founders Festival, an all-week festival which annually connects hundreds of bands, startups, artists, and visionaries. To create this event, the festival partnered with the Wahoowa Network, a nationwide network that connects hundreds of UVa alumni and students through meetups and educational events in cities such as New York, San Francisco, and of course, Charlottesville. Over good wine, good conversation, and good company, the event created a relaxing atmosphere for the guests to sink into. Below are some of the scenes from that warm Saturday night in downtown Charlottesville:
The doors welcomed not only UVA alumni and students, but also the balmy air of a spring night in Charlottesville.
Conversations filled the stunning historic venue of the Old Metropolitan Hall as the clock struck at 7:30 PM.
Laughs exchanged as the gala went into full swing.
Meanwhile, Kyle Lee pays close attention to a point made by fellow UVa alumni, Noah Healy.
Elizabeth Kukla, former Entrepreneurship Group (EG) officer at UVa, eagerly tells a story to fellow EG member, Uzi Minhas.
The aforementioned Uzi Minhas responding to Elizabeth’s story–he also served an executive role in EG as its former president.
Some silly moments captured during the night–you never know what happens when you pull a camera out.
Brian Mitchell, 2nc year studying math and business intelligence, flashes a smile during a conversation.
All UVa students, faculty, and alumni were welcome to attend.
Vishesh Choudhry, a fourth-year biology and computer science double major, listens intently to fellow UVa student, Brian Mitchell.
Noah Healy elaborates a thought to Kyle Lee as the night drew to a close.
Held towards the end of the Tom Tom Founders Festival, the Wahoowa Gala concluded a wild week of events celebrating the arts, music, and entrepreneurship scene in Charlottesville.
Goofing around again outside Old Met Hall–just watch out for passersby out for a night on the town.
A night to reflect upon–cheers!
